The collaboration between Prabhas and director Prashanth Neel was announced in December 2020, with filming commencing in January 2021. The film marks Prashanth Neel’s entry into Telugu cinema and Prabhas’ first collaboration with the director. Salaar is not a remake but an original story tailored for Prabhas, as clarified by Neel.


The casting process saw the inclusion of talented actors such as Shruti Haasan, Madhu Guruswamy, Easwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Prithviraj’s return to Telugu cinema after 12 years adds a special dimension to the project.


The shoot commenced in the coal mines near Godavarikhani, Telangana, in January 2021, with subsequent schedules in Hyderabad. Despite interruptions, including Prabhas’ knee surgery, the team persevered, even shooting a high-budget action sequence at Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City.


Ravi Basrur’s musical compositions set the tone for Salaar, with the first single, “Sooreede,” releasing on 13 December 2023. The soundtrack spans multiple languages, showcasing a diverse musical experience

The film’s distribution spans various regions, with Hombale Films handling Karnataka, Moksha Movies and Prathyangira Cinemas in North America, Prithviraj Productions in Kerala, Red Giant Movies in Tamil Nadu, AA Films in North India, and various distributors in Andhra Pradesh and Nizam region.
